During the lockdown, while there were a lot of attempts by various apps (HouseParty, TikTok), video conferencing tools like zoom, team meet and WhatsApp video calls increased significantly and variety of online games like Ludo, Housie, Rummy and Poker saw increments but the engagement created by Tambola among the family members was worth watching.
Surprisingly among various chat with family members and business associate, I realised that Tambola is one hot favourite from the bucket. Both at business and leisure, Tambola is a no nonsense game bringing a lot of engagement between families and teams. One of the prime reason is because it is a game which all genders and genres can play together i.e. all members of all age groups are able to play together. I was not surprised and have seen 3 generations playing together. Tambola, also known as Housie, is a game of probability.
Being assigned task of making our team play Housie as an engagement exercise, I had a chance to invest time and effort in identifying a suitable App, playing myself, evaluating and (re)understanding the game.
